UNIVERSITY MEDICAL COLLEGE
For decades medical education has been a purview of the public sector
in Pakistan. The Provincial Governments with limited resources tried
their best to provide educational and healthcare facilities to the
public but could not cope with the requirements of ever-increasing
population. Frequent increases in the cost of medical treatment and
general awareness of the public about cause and control of disease added
strength to their demands for the expansion and improvement in the
existing healthcare system of the country. The Government therefore,
rightly decided to invite participation by the private sector in health
education. The private sector responded promptly and
quite a few standard Institutions were established for imparting medical
education.
Faisalabad being the third largest city, with a population of over 4
million, and occupying central position in the province of the Punjab,
could not be deprived of proper educational facilities in this sector.
It is with this zeal and mission that Madina Foundation, a “Not for
profit” philanthropic organization of the Madina Group of Industries,
decided to set up and sponsor University Medical College.
MBBS Programme of University Medical College was accorded recognition by
Pakistan Medical & Dental Council in 2004.
The College has hired the services of highly qualified and experienced
teaching staff to impart quality education. Well-equipped laboratories,
properly furnished centrally air-conditioned classrooms and clean
comfortable environment of the campus are conducive to achieve high
scholastic standards of medical education envisioned by the authorities.
